I. SBMC representation
a. Represent the QCOGA at the SBMC meetings and provide feedback to EXCO within 48 hours of attending such meetings.
b. Build in issues raised at the SBMC meetings into the activities of the Committee.
c. Initiate the need for SBMC meetings on a regular basis.
d. Track and report on status of issues raised until resolution.
II. Teacher and non-Teaching staff Development
a. Continuous performance assessment of Teaching and non-teaching staff to ensure relevance, currency, character and overall fit to the student’s needs.
b. Training for teachers to update their knowledge and skills in use of ICTs for teaching and modern teaching methods.
c. Training of administrators in the use of ICTs for administrative services.
III. Curriculum Development, Monitoring and Evaluation
a. Review and continuous improvement of overall curriculum for providing 21st century education to the students.
b. Deployment of a Learning Management System to support teaching/learning and to facilitate:
c. Use of ICTs (digital skills development) for Teachers and Students.
d. Digitization of administrative services (Transcripts, results, assignments, counselling, class and activity scheduling etc.) to improve management of the education system.
e. Integration of ICTs for students access to a virtual library, e-practicals, and e-resources (e.g. Khan academy resources), access to computer labs.
- Alumni engagement with the college and students
- Ensuring broad curriculum design and implementation to include
o Academic advising, mental health counselling, career guidance.
o Internships, student exchanges, competitions etc. (Mastercard foundation programmes).
o Literacy skills – digital literacy, financial literacy etc.
o Entrepreneurial skills – Business plan writing etc.
o Extracurricular activities for developing critical skills around various interests
1. Set up clubs and partner with relevant student related organisations/programmes for mentoring e.g. Public speaking (Toastmasters), Volunteering (Rotarians); ICT hub for AI, Robotics, Coding skills (Union bank’s Edu360 prgramme in collaboration with pan African technology company, Awarri); Agriculture (IITA youth agripreneurs); Creatives – Art (Nike Gallery, Art X etc), Creative writing club etc.
2. Continuous review and assessment of extra-curricular activities to assure fit for purpose.
IV. Quality Assurance
a. Design a matrix for benchmarking all sub-components of the College against best practices/international standards.
b. Interface with all other committees and in particular, the committee on Policy, Planning and Oversight, and
c. Develop quality assurance mechanisms for internal self-improvement.
d. Push for the establishment of a quality assurance office in the College whose sole responsibility will be to build capacity and to implement internal quality audits for improvement.
e. Ensure continuous assessment of Queens College educational delivery in terms of the following:
1. Quality of Education
2. Relevance of Education
3. Quality of Teaching staff
4. Quality of Infrastructure
5. Extracurricular activities
V. Planning and Reporting –
a. Develop and execute annual plans for QCOGA contribution to Teachers, Curriculum and Student development.
b. Provide input to the design and development of the QCOGA e-Magazine news to disseminate news on the activities of the Association, Alumni accomplishments, and also receive contributions from teachers and students, through the Communications and Stakeholder Management Committee. Paid up members will receive e-copies as part of incentive to facilitate membership drive. Involve Teachers and students to obtain input and feedback regularly as part of reporting mechanism.
c. Coordinate engagement with Partnering organisations such as (cf. Mastercard Foundation – see 2020 report, Secondary School Education in Africa: Preparing Youth for the Future of Work).
d. Continuously seek out members of the Association that are in the education sector as well as those who can facilitate mentoring opportunities in all aspects of educational areas identified.
e. Provide written feedback to EXCO monthly and report to General Meeting in line with the approved annual meeting calendar.
